The overall aim of the evaluation was to assess the success of the northern bloc projects in terms of the quality and effectiveness of the services offered during the project, and whether project participants had also received additional benefits in terms of business development.

The questionnaire addressed the following issues:
* Quality of event programme
* Quality and usefulness of online services, staff and survey
* Business benefits
* Benefits to individual’s knowledge and skills

Outline:

The evaluation was carried out electronically and over the telephone. The questionnaire was sent a core group of individuals and businesses who have been involved in northern bloc since 2005. A member of bloc’s team followed up this contact with a telephone call asking if they would be prepared to contribute to the evaluation process by completing a questionnaire, either electronically or over the phone. A core group were approached as there were not enough resources to telephone all project participants – it was anticipated that the majority of questionnaires would be completed by telephone.
