This course explores the preproduction process for 3D computer animation, leading up to the previsualisation phase. It is aimed at artists and animators who have some 3D experience and wish to expand their knowledge. The course explores the rapidly evolving preproduction design process – from 2D to real-time and offline CG development pipeline, traditional pencil and paper concept work to previsualisation and asset pipeline design.

This course gives the participant an advanced understanding of Photoshop with specific reference to participants’ professional needs. It examines media imaging techniques in order to improve workflows. Participants develop a project relevant to their field of expertise.

Please note: Fundamental knowledge of Photoshop and recent practical experience is required to undertake this course.

SOUND PRODUCTION FOR VISUAL MEDIA

This module gives participants an in depth understanding of the interaction between sound and vision in different media contexts, and the opportunity to produce soundtracks – dialogue, music and SFX – for a variety of visual media.

Please note: A working knowledge of Pro Tools is required for this course. If you are unfamiliar with this package, please consider taking our “Introduction to Pro Tools” Course.
Advanced Postproduction Techniques for 3D Computer Animation

This course is aimed at working vfx/animation professional and explores the technologies and workflow that form the basis of emerging workflow strategies between 3D and 2D in contemporary vfx/animation pipelines. The course examines a range of advanced animation and post-processing techniques to build elaborate and layered computer generated imagery, as well as effective use of contemporary software tools and techniques to implement complex single shot compilation.
