Calon TV

Presented by

Huw Walters

Huw Walters, Commercial Director of Calon TV, will be joining us to talk about the work of the Calon team who together have a 25 year track record of producing high quality animation for UK and international networks. Their latest series Hana’s Helpline is a 26 part preschool series in production for S4C, Five and German broadcaster ZDF.

In addition Calon have recently won a tender of £250k to develop and produce animation for S4C’s tv and digital output. Robin Lyons, Managaing Director at Calon, believes this will give Calon a chance to introduce all sorts of new ideas and talent to the industry in Wales, as well as providing a stepping stone to more ambitious and far-reaching work.

At amperSAND Huw Walters, who has 16 years experience of television business affairs, programme finance, co-production and distribution, will give a general overview of Calon TV. He will also focus on the animation side of Calon`s work, and explore how Calon go about financing and maximizing animations commercial potential as well as other programming.

amperSAND is closely associated with the annual international animation and CG conference event SAND (Swansea Animation Days), linked through its aims and function to engender innovative ideas, business collaboration and the convergence of digital technologies.

Both events are initiated and organised by the School of Digital Media, Swansea Institute, who run a raft of programmes in computer animation, creative computer games design, multimedia, interactive media and music technology from HND, BA, BSc to Masters level.
