Media Art Bath is excited to present a programme curated by Al Cameron, film and music programmer at Arnolfini, for the next MAB FILM EXERCISE. Al’s programme, HOLD ME TIGHT / HOLDING ON FOREVER, includes work by Tommy Hartung, Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix PointNever), Michael Robinson, Jordan Wolfson.

Recomposing mass entertainment into new quests towards truth, and particularly feeling a sincere reverence for pop music`s structures and emotive powers ´ love, dread, yearning, melancholy ´ much of this recent work from New York reaches out its hands towards the eternal, the infinite, the ecstatic ´ ek-stasis: a state outside of time.

Moving images compress and crystallize the temporal. Like memories they may loop again and again to the jetty at Orly: portals to universal emotions. Mental and cinematic processes become science fictions of the infinite; blissful, awesome, carrying a sublime promise to ´unlock the door… to lie down with this beast in a world beyond time” (Ballard)

  1. That’s more than snsieble! That’s a great post!

    • If only Harper honoured the mitroiny government he has, we would be relatively safe. Unfortunately, as he did last time, he will push his wants through back door legislation instead of putting it to a vote. Or do things in secret. Such as a few months ago when he secretly signed some law giving American military free entry to Canada whenever they want to help police us. Or when he cancelled the government role in food inspections and privatized the system without telling ANYONE, after which, 20 people died (so far). I am still waiting for some Canadian to explain to me why Western Canadians hate the East and why there is so much hate in Canada now period. That has me more upset than anything right now.
