Helfa Gelf, December dates ⁄⁄

Date: 2 – 3 Dec 2006
Location: wales

Following a successful open studios event in May 2006, Helfa Gelf artists are opening their studios to the public again on the 2nd and 3rd of December.

Entry is free and the event is a chance to pick up a pre-Christmas bargain of unique hand-crafted quality loacl arts and crafts.

Thirty-three artists and crafts makers open their studios working with sculpture, basket weaving, painting, metalwork, carving, embroidery, and located from North to South to East to West of County Conwy.

Dominic Chennell said `There was an fantastic response in May when an over five thousand visitors experienced art being created in front of their eyes. I`m sure the weekend opening will be of equal success. We also have a Treasure Hunt as part of the project and its yet to be discovered, so keep searching for the £3,000 worth of golden rings.`

Open studios happen when a group of artists open their work places to the public for free. Everyone has the opportunity to see artists at work, ask questions and even buy work direct from the artists.

The treasure is five gold rings hand-crafted by five of the UK’s leading jewellers and buried somewhere in Conwy. Each ring is held in a beautiful porcelain casket specially commissioned from Sophie Lowe, one of Conwy`s own international ceramicists and also opening her studio in December.
