A call to Creative Technology Programmers ⁄⁄

Spider Hack is looking for Creative Technology Programmers
1st-2nd August at Chapter in Cardiff.
£250 fee for Creative Technology Programmers
Prizes for the best ideas are being supplied by Nokia.

The Challenge

This is a particularly challenging time for a large number of young people. In 2012 one in seven of those aged from 16 to 24 was NEET (not in education, employment, or training) and 92,000 18-year-olds in the UK are out of work.

What is the HACK

Over two days teams of young people, businesses, third sector organisations and Cardiff Council will work with the support of designers and developers to design better ways for young people to make decisions about their future using existing data Cardiff Council has on the jobs market. This is your chance to be a part of creating solutions that lead to new opportunities for young people not in employment, education or training.

Who can attend

We are looking for designers and developers to bring the ideas to life or if you are in business, the public sector & youth services, or a relevant third sector organisation please register your interest.

Prizes will be given to the teams that produce the best solutions over the two days.

Who will this benefit

The term ‘NEETs’ describes a very broad range of young people and this event will focus on helping 16 – 19 year olds make important decisions about their future. Young people of this age potentially have the most dif cult decisions to make and the broadest range of choices available. How can web and mobile applications help young people decide whether to go to university, look for alternative training or/and employment?

How to get involved

If you would like to be one of our selected programmers, please email Peter on pdorrington@pdronline.co.uk, and include a selection of your recent digital work.

Venue & details

Successful applicants will be asked to arrive at CHAPTER, Canton, Cardiff, CF5 1QE for 9am – 5pm on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd of August.

Both days will close at 5pm and pitches to the council will take place on Friday afternoon.

*Teams will be able to continue working on their ideas on Thursday evening if they wish.

Lunch & refreshments will be provided throughout the event.
