This year marks the Centenary of the study of photography at Newport. With a
number of events, projects and activities planned to celebrate the
long-standing reputation of this discipline at the institution, the
University is proud to acknowledge the past, present and future of
Photography at Newport through this landmark year of celebrations. Newport
is delighted to host a two-day symposium and special alumni celebration
event as part of the year¹s activities.

This symposium examines the place of photography in contemporary culture.
Speakers will include: Professor Mark Durden, Ben Burbridge, Sarah James,
Annabella Pollen and Liam Devlin.
Newport Photography Alumni Exhibition – Friday 30th November 6pm 9pm
Free and open to the public
The exhibition celebrates the significant influence Newport has had on the
world of photography. This special event provides a chance to view the work
of selected Newport Alumni.
Newport Photography Alumni Celebration Supper – Friday 30th November, 6.30pm

There will be the opportunity to relax, discuss and meet old friends as well
as meet the alumni of Newport¹s photography courses.

Day 2′s symposium brings together a group of international practitioners to
talk about their various approaches in working with the medium of
photography using the broad theme of photography today and
tomorrow. Speakers will include David Bate, Paula Gortazar, Davide Maione,
Helen Sear, Ken Grant, Clare Strand, Mishka Henner and Bertien van Manen
