Northern Bloc has recently been established in Conwy County in order to identify and bring together individuals and clusters from the creative industries working with new technology. The project hopes to attract professionals in the region including neighbouring counties: Anglesey, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd and Wrexham.

Outline:

Northern Bloc activities include:

• Conducting a mapping exercise to identify current provision, the needs of practitioners and examples of best practice. Bloc aims to develop networks to provide real opportunities for collaboration, alliance, and partnership between Wales-based individuals and organisations, enabling cross discipline exchanges between business and industry, science and technology, education and creative practices;

• Developing sources of expertise within the creative technology sector in Wales ´ Bloc will be advocating and lobbying for resources and acting to increase the profile of the sector;

• Promoting activity in creative technology online through Bloc’s e-bulletin and website;

• Arranging 3 monthly themed seminars over the Autumn offering professional development and networking opportunities for the creative industries in the region. Further details of the seminars being held in Conwy County can be found by clicking on Seminars (2.1).
