northern bloc 4 Launch Event ⁄⁄

Date: 30 Mar 2010
Time: 3-4.30pm
Venue:Technium CAST

The next phase of the northern bloc project will be launched at Technium CAST, Bangor on 30 March. The event comprises: an interactive installation; a virtual balloon race; an actual balloon release plus the chance to find out about northern bloc’s programme of workshops, clinics and commissions. The event will be followed by an opportunity to take part in the Wales in the World workshop (http://www.bloc.org.uk/cgi-bin/showbig.cgi?id=106) at Galeri, Caernarfon at 5pm.

Outline:

Find out where we are and what we do. Take a balloon from room 120 (watch out for the performer). Exchange your balloon for refreshment in the ʻopen living areaʼ. ʻTagʼ your balloon in short tales – and interact with the digital projection. Join the physical balloon release on the balcony. Enter the virtual balloon race and maybe win a prize

If you canʼt make it in person to the northern bloc launch you could still: Be one of the first to release your virtual balloon to race over google maps. Your balloon will travel, rise and fall dependent on weather data gathered from around the world. It will carry with it your six word short tale – a personal, poignant and even profound statement. Prizes will be awarded to owner of the balloon which travelled the furthest and to the stories deemed to be most evocative.

We hope to see your balloon in virtual space!

The event is free to attend but please RSVP via email to tessa@bloc.org.uk
