New bloc family member – Kathryn Lambert ⁄⁄

Happy New Year to all our members and to celebrate we have some great news for you all as we welcome Kathryn Lambert as to the bloc team. Kathryn has been appointed Project Leader for our 2011 main and micro commissions and brings over 10 years of experience of working in the arts as a commissioner, collaborator and curator of art and technology with her. She is an experienced producer, project manager and fund raiser and has extensive experience of working with artists, partners, funders and the public.

Kathryn has been Creative Director of folly ( since 2005 where she has been responsible for the artistic direction of the organisation.


She has initiated and developed projects such as Abandon Normal Devices, Portable Pixel Playground and Digital Artists Handbook and is currently working on developing a new artistic policy for 2011 ´ 14, establishing a national taskforce for Digital Participation throughout the arts and realising Current; an experiment in collecting digital art. She has previously worked at folly (2003 ´ present), Arts Council England (2002-05) and as a practitioner.

Kathryn has worked with artists such as UBERMORGEN.COM, James Coupe, boredomresearch, Andy Best and Merja Puustinen, The Owl Project, Hamilton and Southern, 8gg, blink, Tob Heys and Robert Saucier and many more.

Kathryn is passionate about presenting compelling work with brilliant artists outside of the gallery in both challenging and rural environments and online and is committed to seeking out and taking risks with new modes of production, presentation and distribution.
