We started in 1998 with the support of Janek Alexander and Karen MacKinnon from Chapter. Beginning initially as a small professional network and talking shop for artists, designers, technologists and academics we soon began to broaden our programme to include public events across Wales. Over the years we have increased the visibility of creatives working with technology in Wales and internationally and raise awareness of growing trends in the field of technology. We continue to advocate support for this important and growing area of work. We are a registered not-for-profit company.
Over the years bloc is proud to have attracted funding and support from the following organisations: Arts Council of Wales; British Council; NESTA (National Endowment of Science, Technology and the Arts); UnLtd; Wales Arts International; the Welsh local authorities of Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, Conwy County Borough Council, Isle of Anglesey County Council, Gwynedd County Council, Powys County Council; the Higher Education Institutions of Glyndwr University, University of Glamorgan, University of Wales, Newport; The Welsh Assembly Government; and the Welsh Language Board.
We are also grateful to the many individuals, organisations and venues in Wales that we have partnered with and who have participated in projects and events.
