This meeting explored the curation/commissioning issues related to new technologies and fine art practice.

Outline:

Claims made such as `content before technique` question whether umbrella terms `electronic art` and digital art`, or venues and events such as `new media galleries` and `ISEA` bring attention to or limit the acceptance of new technologies within the fine art `world`.

By exploring the parallels of the electronic and digital with the historical inclusion of video within the fine art `world`, this meeting debated whether initially technique comes before content (or quality) in the light of an emerging medium. Finally this meeting explored fine art work that addresses, as well as employs, technology asking is `reference` to technology required to truly engage new technologies with fine art practise.
